Journal Entries:

Day 1: 12/4/08

Today I worked on the timeline. I had trouble figuring out what to do what day. But I felt that I organized it in a good way, and Sallie and I will be able to handle the project well. I emailed the timeline to Sallie and she emailed me back any changes that needed to be made. The changes were good and the project seems like it will go well. The bacteria that I’m researching seem interesting but I can hardly say the name of it.

Day 2: 12/5/08

Today Sallie and I are researching and planning for the weekend. We decided to work ahead of the timeline a little bit this weekend.  I know we are both tired and won’t want to work on it, but that will be what’s best for the project. The project is going well so far and there are a lot of results for the bacteria when I research it. The problem is most of the results are websites trying to sell me pills, powders, and tablets with this bacteria in them. The websites are very unhelpful so I think this project might be harder than I thought. I think that the hard part will be weeding out the unimportant information from the important. I will try to do as much research as I can today and I will continue on Sunday.

Day 3: 12/6/08

                No work was done today.

Day 4: 12/7/08

I had hardly any time to work on the project today, but I feel that I got a lot done. This morning I had church then I had to eat lunch with the family, and I had Latin tutoring at 2:00 until 3:00, and I had a Christmas party to go to tonight. Somehow I ended up fitting in a good hour and a half of work.  I found a lot of good information on Wikipedia about the bacteria. I don’t like Wikipedia, but this is the best information that I can find, and from past research it seems reliable.  I think that I will use that website, using a website evaluation and count it as a source.

Day 5: 12/8/08

In class today we had the whole period to work on our projects, Sallie and I decided to work on our journal entries, then research some more. We both felt that we do not have enough information, but we both don’t know where to look for the right information. We never got to researching in class, but it was a mutual decision to research tonight for any information that we do not already have. I am hoping that my research goes well and that I find a lot of the information on it.

Day 6: 12/9/08

Today in class we did no research, but once home I did tons. I began working on the website. This project is beginning to stress me out. I am hoping that it goes well and I get a good grade on it because right now it seems like I do not have enough research. I think it will work out, though. I'm going to work really hard on it in the upcoming days. I am most worried about the history section, for there seems to be hardly any information about its discovery. I think Sallie and I are going to do well and I am already looking forward to it being over.

Day 7: 12/10/08

Today in class we started working on using agar plates. They are really cool, how you can see the bacteria reproduce in such a short period of time. Sallie and I were not able to get any work done in class, but once home we both worked on bits and pieces of the webpage. I also worked on it this morning during study hall. I couldn't figure out what to add to the classification page. I researched things to add to this page specifically, but I cannot come up with anything. There is no diagram or picture that I think would fit and nothing else belongs on that page. I guess it will be the weak link of our project. We have the information on it, but it needs to have something more.

Day 8: 12/ 11/08

Today I worked on the web page with Sallie at lunch. We feel as if we are getting behind and needed to cram some work in. I had an idea to go to this website that I had been on a couple of years ago with some friends. The website is called quizfarm.com and you can use it to take fun or silly quizzes or you can make quizzes. I decided to make a quiz. My first attempt was fruitless. I couldn’t figure out how to set the quiz up, how the format worked, or anything else I needed to know. I tried again after deleting my first attempt. This time I had better luck. The quiz I made functioned well and looked pretty good, if I say so myself. But then, the bell rang and not knowing that you could not save it a closed my computer thinking it would be there when I opened it again, and of course it wasn't. Finally, on my third attempt I got it right. The quiz is what I hoped for, but I did make some spelling errors that even through my efforts I have not been able to get rid of.

Day 9: 12/12/08

     No work was done today.

Day 10 : 12/13/08

Today is the last day I am going to be able to work on my project. I have to go to church and then to the ballet which runs till five thirty. So I worked on my project from twelve to six. I have gotten a lot of work done, and I feel that Sallie will only have to upload her journal tomorrow and then we're done. Today was the first day I became fond of Lactobacillus Acidophilus. I can't describe it but I suddenly understood it and the why it worked and what it does and its importance. You could say it was my bacteria epiphany. I suddenly am very interested in biology and now like it more than I thought possible. Its weird suddenly understanding and getting it, but it sure helped motivate me to do my last minute touches on it.
